In a scene straight out of a sci-fi flick, a family in Khanna, Ludhiana, got more than they bargained for when their morning milk turned into a rubbery blob upon boiling. The bizarre transformation was captured on video by Harsh, a family member, and quickly went viral, prompting health officials to launch an investigation.
According to Harsh, the milk had been stored in the refrigerator before being heated. Upon boiling, it morphed into a substance resembling rubber, causing concern and leading to complaints of abdominal pain among children in the household. The family reached out to local social organizations, which escalated the matter to the district administration.
Dr. Jatinder Virk from the health department responded promptly, collecting samples from the household and planning to obtain more from the vendor. These samples have been sent to a laboratory for testing to determine the cause of the unusual reaction. Officials are withholding speculation until results are available.
This incident isn’t isolated. Recent reports indicate that nearly one-third of milk and dairy product samples collected in Ludhiana over the past six months have failed food safety tests, raising concerns over food quality in the district. Dr. Amarjeet Kaur, district health officer, confirmed that 24 out of 82 enforcement samples did not meet quality standards.
While there’s no official classification for “fake milk,” the health department acknowledges the presence of substandard milk in the market. Appropriate actions will be taken based on the findings of the current investigation.
